Lake Riding
Was hoping someone could let me know how the lake riding is? I'm looking to head out to Rattlesnake this weekend to check the Cottage. I have a liquid cooled sled and it overheats if it's hard and frozen. Hopefully there's a little snow on top that's enough to keep the sliders from melting and the motor from overheating.
Thanks for any updates, looking forward to this cold snap leaving us and getting on with some melting. A few more Ski Days and I'm good with winter. |
I was out on the lake this past weekend and decided to go with 4 wheelers instead of sleds. Whatever snow that is on the ice is hard an frozen, in my opinion not enough for proper cooling. Other opinions may vary...

I rode the Lake on Saturday and it was hard and fast. Some areas had some snow cover that would cool the machine, but I did have trouble overheating and needed to stop a number of times allowing the machine to cool down.
I had no problems with the sliders, but it gets old very fast stopping every 5 or ten minutes trying to get some granular snow on the heat exchanger. When the trails soften up there is enough snow for cooling, and if you hit the Lake after riding the trails and stayed at a reasonable speed you should be able to get out to the island. I had no overheating issues while on the trails. I hope this helps. |
We were out Saturday and Sunday on the lake and had no issues with the hard snow pack/ice. I have a studded track but others we were with didn't and no one overheated or got close to it. You had to be careful with the old tracks that have frozen solid they can toss you around a bit but we kept the speeds at a safe pace and had great rides.
