Lines in Road...?

The last week or so, some yellow lines ... about 12-15 inches long and about 4-5 inches wide have shown-up in the middle of the road, along some parts of Long Island Rd. and Moultonboro Neck Rd. They are located between the center line and the solid line line of the far right of the road.

They appear to be some kind of markers, but I've never seen this type before.

Is anyone familiar with the purpose of these yellow lines?

These might be markings for where catch basin's or other types of drainage are along the side of the road. It is done to make it easier to find them when the sides of the road are covered in (plowed in) snow.

Yellow arrows

As JS said, yellow arrows or yellow lines mark catch basins or culverts. Seems like someone has been busy this fall.

A whole bunch of them showing up in the Alton area as well, and on the bypass in Gilford.

Thanks!

Went by the lines again today and did notice drainage covers (didn't know they were there).

You would think

With a GPS and map software, marking roads will be a thing of the past?
