Power outage

During the scary power outage on Rattlesnake that is going on now, what are others doing to calm themselves?

Personally we decided on petron margaritas. What have you done?

How long has the outage been going on? We have a freezer full and headed up for the weekend.

Someone get nauti's food and head over! The power is back on but we are ignoring it!

Hey, we can't see any lights on over there. Are they back on? How long were they out?

Was there a storm? There were a couple of guys replacing the electric meters on Rattlesnake on Tuesday. The new meters are equipped with a wireless transceiver which allows the power company to remotely read the meters.

Apparently (according to the tech with whom I spoke on Tuesday) there are also transceivers/repeaters on selected poles.

I'm not entirely sure how they get the data from the island back to the mainland. Hopefully, they're not using BPL (Broadband over Power Lines), which can cause tremendous radio interference in the short wave (HF) spectrum. All was quiet (interference-wise) on Tuesday when we left, but who knows if some stuff was subsequently installed!! Hopefully not.

This may or may not have had anything to do with the outage.
