Red Sox Win The World Series
Congratulations Red Sox Fans........
So sorry that you wont get a double this year, since the Eagles are going to win the Super Bowl..... |
The curse is broken
The celestial spirits of the Babe must have been blocked. Its fitting that the curse was broken during a total lunar eclipse. Go sox!
|
Thanks Red Sox.....

Okay, I'm an anomaly -- An Eagles fan raised as a Sox fan (thanks to a transplanted father), and you've struck a cord. Although I was not a big T.O. fan while he was a 'Niner, I must say that he is money. But let's not take my word for any of this, let's look at the stats. Pats Receivers: Rec yds Avg. TDs Givens 24 443 18.5 1 Patten 20 357 17.9 4 Owens 34 596 17.5 8 While we're at it, a little QB comparison ;) Comp/Att % yds y/game TD INT RAT Brady 104/172 60.5 1389 231.5 6 4 87.1 McNabb 140/213 65.7 1753 292.2 13 3 105.6 So...love him or hate him, you cannot deny T.O.'s remarkable contribution. He's turned a marginal receiver (Pinkston) into a weapon...made the TEs viable again...opened up the middle for all sorts of possibilities -- and that's without catching a single ball. Granted, we're not even at mid-season, BUT, if things shake out the way they SHOULD (which rarely happens), we'll see the best team from each conference meet in the big game. The Pats are hands-down winners of the AFC, and no one can argue that the Eagles are the cream of the NFC. If we paired the two this Sunday, I'd have to bet on the Pats -- they're just too complete. BUT, as we all know, once the playoffs arrive, any team can beat any other. All bets are off. But I digress -- HOW 'BOUT DEM SOX! |
Why do I keep looking at the title of this thread and expect to hear, "April Fool!" :)
Boy it's been a fun ride. I wish the MVP could have been a team award. |
What an historic game! What a team.
Hopefully we don’t lose all the free agents. Now that the series is over we can get back to the lake. We get three channels at the camp. Maine, Maine and Maine. No Sox coverage, ever. |

Speaking of April fools. On April 11 2005 at the home opener the SOX raise the WORLD CHAMP FLAG. And WHO is the visiting team that has to stand there and watch?? :) None other than the New York Yanks. They will be thinking "is this an April fools joke?" :D ToW |
Yankmees @ Fenway
Man, what I would give to get seats for THAT game...
|
Hey Grant....
They are some impressive stats huh? I am truly happy that the Sox won. I have been to Fenway and have always held a spot for them in my heart. The Eagles and Pats.....YEA that would be a game.....
|
Let's see the Super Bowl, the World Series, the lunar eclipse and the 'Old Man' in 2004.
May the 'Old Man' rest in peace. Amen. |
'bye to Bambino
Bambino left this message on the Cow Island web site:
HELP !!!!!! SOS SOS ... I'm drifting somewhere out in the Broads. I'm sending this message via my cell phone and ipod. My GPS keeps flashing "BEWARE! DEEPEST PART OF THE LAKE!!" Last night I went out to see the lunar eclipse, then I began hearing Simon and Garfunkle singing "Where have you gone Joe Dimaggio?". I followed the sound, and now I'm lost in a deep fog. My boat is taking on water fast! HELP!!! Wait, I'll invoke the curse one last time: "CURSE OF THE BAMBIN ............." blub, blub, blub .... |
Well....What can I say. I was very happy that the Red Sox finally won the World Series. I was at Joe Greenes during the game. The last time the Red Sox were in the World Series I was 8 years old and to this very day I can still picture 1st baseman Bill Buckner missing the ball in game 6 of the World Series in 1986.
As for the Patriots this year, they are going to go all the way. Now that the Red Sox have won another (86 years later) championship and the Patriots have won 2 championships, it is about time that the Boston Celtics and the Boston Bruins bring home championships to make all of us New England people proud of our professional sports teams!! |
Dmjr...
You might be waiting a while for hockey.......
|
Sorry Glensteely,As I read my post this morning it sounded a little harsh. But I do still stand by the content of the post.I love how you quote INDIVIDUAL stats. You still don't get it.You help make my point. It's the TEAM stats that count.21 wins in a row,2 championships in 3 years. These are the only stats that mean anything. I must say I feel very fortunate to have now seen all of my Boston teams win championships.Life is good!! SS

Eagles/Pats
Interesting stat that has gone unnoticed in the wake of the Pats' unprecedented 21-game streak:
During the same period, the Eagles are 18-3. |
Looks like it will be interesting in January
Imagine the forum in January when it WILL BE Eagles/Patriots in the super bowl (assuming of course the Patriots make it).
E-A-G-L-E-S....EAGLES. |
another good one
thanks Grant! that is a team stat if i ever saw one!
|
Chris...wash your mouth out with soap for rooting against the Patriots on this forum.Just for that I am personally going to put a curse on your Eagles.I'm totally serious.......we go to the Dominican Republic in Nov. and there are witch doctors there from Haiti who are experts at all kinds of curses.I used their services twice before and it worked,so,watch out.....the Eagles will fold.
|
I Am Sam.....samiam
Look, I guess you have to believe in curses for that stuff to work. I dont, and neither do the Eagles. So curse away, and keep right on cursing as the Eagles continue to win games and climb closer and closer to the ultimate goal......The Bowl Baby!!!!!!!!!!
|
And Then There Was One........
Sorry to all those Patriots fans that didnt see yesterday coming.......
Go Eagles !!!!!!! :emb: :D |
Dillon on the sideline........
Ty Law twists his ankle in a gopher hole in your field, don't count your chickens yet Glenn, its a long season.........
|
Long, long, long...
Long season, indeed.
And, with the way the Eagles' O has been underperforming the past two weeks, coupled with Westbrook's injury and the Steelers' strength, the last unbeaten team in the league could be looking at its first "L" this coming Sunday. It'll be the first real test they've seen all season, and I wouldn't be surprised to see Vegas give a nod to Pittsburgh. |
So What?
So what if the Pats lost. Did we really think they would never lose again? IMHO the lose is a positive for the Pats just like the lose to the Bills last year.
The Eagles are winning some games but it seems that the iron of the league is in the AFC and not the NFC so the Pats will win again in 2005!http://www.winnipesaukee.com/forums/...cons/icon7.gif |
