Warm temps and rain = Big change on the Lake
Amazing what a couple days of 40-50 degree temps and lots of rain can do to 20 inches of snow, isn't it? The lake is down to bare ice in many spots now, and some open water seems to be visible on some web cams. And most of the snow is off my roof - hooray! I know snow is going to return tomorrow (7 March), but it also looks like daily highs are going to be in the 30's for the next 10 days. Spring is coming!

Is that fog I see on the Weirs web cam this a.m.?

Well we didn't get any snow to speak of today, but I'll bet the run off and ice melt is going to affect the temp of the lake today....won't it? Some of the Bob Houses out there look like they are floating on the lake instead of sitting on ice.
People are going to get wet trying to get them off the lake...:D |
I measured the snow depth in the yard before it began to rain and today at 1:00. Last Friday the 4th it was 32 inches deep and today March 7th
23 inches. |
It melts from the shore outward

Did you get any snow yesterday or all rain, like we did down here in PA over the weekend?

All rain

I just hope March goes out like a lamb, as promised. Don't forget Daylight Savings Time this Sunday, March 13. Just adds to the misery for one day. |

Apparently, Poor Farm Brook that feeds into the Lake at Ellacoya got uppity during this past rain storm. Took out the footbridge between the public beach and the campground.
Here's a view of the Broads from shore. Notice the fence post out there in the water? |
