Repelling Deer

Has anyone tried this method of repelling deer?

Garlic Clips
Repel deer and rabbits
Clip to threatened plants for 6- to 8- month protection from browsing animals. Use to create boundaries or protect individual plantings.
Long-lasting and economical. Package of 25.

While we are away from the camp in the winter when the water is stiff, the hungry deer gobble up my fledgling hemlock trees. :emb:
I really would like to see some of my babies make it this year. :D
Disclaimer: This is not about my like or dislike of deer. ;)

RG, I wonder how effective the garlic will be when it is freezing out, teens and single numbers or worse. I would think that any oils/liquid would be frozen, and not be as effective as if it were being used in a warm weather climate. Have you tried putting some "chicken wire" enclosures around the plants?? The harder you make it for the deer to get to the plants, the better your chances are that they will go elsewhere for their meal. Food for thought :rolleye2: .
