West Alton Marina

Hi Windy,

We keep our boat at West Alton Marina (603) 875-7788 - a short hop from the southern tip of Rattlesnake.

And the sign at the entrance to West Alton Marina is advertising the availability of slips.

They have a specific time for put in and haul out. Last year many friends had to wait more than three weeks after ice-out to put in.

I believe that Minge Cove Marina has slips available too. They accommodate many island residents.

We have been at West Alton Marina for 4 seasons now and have found them to be attentive to island residents. We always ask for Ice out launch and November 1 pulling of boat. Never been a problem.

Must be that the people I spoke with, didn't make proper arrangements.

You do need to request to be put in right after "ice out." Otherwise you will be put in at their leisure.

After a certain time of the year

Many marinas require advanced notification for putting boats in and some also have boats unavailable after a certain time due to storage requirements. Many with rack storage have a place for everything and if your boat is on a rack that’s at the back then your one of the first put up for the season.
At this time of the year everyone is scrambling to get boats winterized before the cold sets in. Several years ago the temps dropped drastically in October to the 20’s and stayed that way. Many marinas lost boats because they just could not keep up.

If you want access to Wolfeboro, try Kingswood thru Island Real Estate 569-3972 (they also have spots in the Back Bay) or WCYC 569-1234.

I also recommend WAM

I have been there for 5 seasons. Always in at Ice Out, always out last days of October. This year, they didn't haul me until this week. This spring was messed up due to the new boat launch being constructed. It wasn't ready at Ice Out, since it was so early.
