Ames Farm Inn Access

Can anyone provide an update on the Ames Farm Inn boat ramp status?

It put a real damper on my summer last year to not be able to launch there,,,

I'm sure it took quite a toll on their business as well, which is always sad to hear for a family business,,, :(

The ramp will not be open to the public this year per Ames Farm.

Launch?

What happen?

Well that stinks in more ways than I care to vent about,,,, :fire:

And yet another piece of Winnipesaukee history down the tubes,,, :(

And more coming.

Winnipesaukee will be just that. History.

Someone tried to sneak into the legislature to reverse the ruling that bodies of water over a certain acerage shall have public access last spring. It was unexpediant to legislate. We need to keep on our toes.

About three weeks ago there was a bass fishing tournament with maybe 20-30 large & well equipped bass boats that was based out of Center Harbor, using the Center Harbor launch ramp for free, as there was no attendant present, and apparently using the www.centerharborinn.com for lodging and vehicle & trailer parking. When the attendant is there, it costs 10-dollars to launch a boat and zero to retrieve. The hardware store closes at 2-pm on Sunday so the empty p-lot was put to use as a trailer pull-ahead space for securing the boats while the next & next boats were retrieved. Ames Farm Inn's loss could be Center Harbor's gain? Center Harbor has a lot to like what with the super market, state liquor store, town beach and town docks, plus the ramp borders commercial and town property so there's a lot less chance for a disgruntled neighbor similar to Ames' situation.

Newfound, Squam & Winnisquam all have large state launch ramp facilities, each with double ramps, toilets, and parking. Winnipesaukee has Center Harbor's town ramp and nearby town beach with public toilets & swimming, and a hardware store that's big on boating items. Anyone is welcome to use the Center Harbor beach for swimming and it might have a lifeguard.

Borrowing an idea from the White Mountain National Forest, maybe Center Harbor could install one of those Forest Service steel security cash deposit tubes to make it convenient for boat launchers to deposit ten dollars when the attendant is not there. The Forest Service just recently built themselves a new three million dollar headquarters up next to Exit 27 so their honor system cash flow design must be a-flowing pretty good there......so why not copy the method at a boat launch?

What bill was that and who was the sponsor(s)? Who in their right mind would object to that requirement?

Someone buried the requirement into this bill. Some kind of environment bill as most of it makes sense. Except for the public launch ramps.
