How much rain today?
 

The rain gauge for Black Cat Island says .84 inches as of 4:30 p.m. We certainly have had a lot more than that down here in West Alton. A good, hard, soaking all-day rain! Does anyone have a rain gauge that they are checking today?

Whomever does will be checking it for the next seven days. Rain, rain, rain....
Better check to make certain the sump pumps are working properly......Anyone building an Ark?

I got 8 trout at barbados pond in madbury today dragging around an olive green bead-head on a floating line from a float tube. 5 rainbows and 3 brookies. All in the pouring rain. It poured so hard at times it seemed as if the rain was coming up from the water,

Oh what a flashback
 

Several years ago, I saw a golf cartoon that came rushing back to me when I thought about you out fishing in a downpour. The cartoon showed two golfers in raingear walking down a fairway carrying their bags, and in the background are two fishermen fishing in a water hazard. The drawing shows that it is pouring out, and one golfer says to the other: "Look at those idiots fishing over there...don't they have enough sense to come out of the rain?" :D

Been there involving both sports. I can be an idiot either way.:laugh:

Oh, and getting back on topic...no rain gauge, but my nicely running brook that was slightly louder than a "babble" is now a raging river :eek:. Guessing over an inch yesterday and overnight to make it run that hard that fast.

Expect the lake to rise as well.

Went by the Dam yesterday and was surprised to see the low discharge rate. But I trust the decisions of the operators. (As long as they don't let it get too high or too low :D)

Reading a story about a flood release at a gate on the Mississippi, I calculated that the 10,000 cfs rate if applied to Winnipesaukee would lower the big lake by about 14 inches an hour. Can't even imagine what it would do down stream.

On the 15th, we had 2.12 inches of rain in West Alton. Storm to date we're at 2.42 inches. Month to-date it's been 3.07.

You can get current and historic weather info for West Alton from my weather station at the Weather Underground http://www.wunderground.com/weathers...p?ID=KNHALTON4. The history only goes back to March this year when I set up the website, so year to date info is not right.

What year was it we had all the rain in one week. I remember my plants all starting to die and get root rot from all the water. Matter of fact my flowers that are out now are in trouble already. Hopefully the plants won't get rot this time. My solar lights along the walks are all dim now too. Haven't even taken out the Little Cobra from the garage this year. (No top on this car) Come on Man...we need sun! :D

2006 was the year we had all the flooding, road washouts, and wake restrictions. I assume that is the Spring you are referencing.

HAIRY BEAST. You are aware that 5 trout or 5 lbs are the limit.

Unless of course you are catch and release fishing which H.B. stated he does...

Vegetable garden could use some sun
 

I agree! Our vegetable garden is kinda stalled without some sun and warmth. With hoop houses and mini-greenhouses we've been able to help Mother Nature a bit, but not enough.
