well stretched out like that in that position about 2 inches long
in its regular form about the size of a quarter.

I guess brown recluse.....

dave603 05-14-2014 07:35 PM

Looks too big for a Brown Recluse, and at that size should have the violin mark.
I'd also go with a Nursery Web. Looks like a male according to this.
And they are a "good" spider depending on your fears.

whatever it is

it is dead now LOL I took my gun (really it was bug stop spray) ventured out to the garage where it was located, with the support of my mother on the phone devised a plan of action, and sprayed that sucker LOL, oh I HATE spiders, and snakes! I lived in Alaska for 10 years and I can deal with the bears and moose much better. At least you can hear those coming LOL. But spiders and snakes are creapy crawly slimy gross....

can't wait for the dreams tonight LOL NOT

Ya just gotta put it in the right context.

Just remember the little rhyme most of us have done to their kids:

The itsy bitsy spider crawled up the water spout.
Down came the rain, and washed the spider out.
Out came the sun and dried out all the rain,
And the itsy bitsy spider crawled up the spout again.

I used to be fascinated/scared of the huge ones hanging from the front porch eaves. I now know that these guys/gals rid us of so many pesky insects. I 've come to see bats the same way.:)

Andrea.wiltfong 05-15-2014 06:20 PM

um this rhyme started it all LOL

My guess that it is a reddish 6 legged spider that is about 2" long when spread out and about the size of a quarter in it's natural form. How close am I???LOL:)

Rusty is correct. Pisaurina mira Nursery web spider. Very abundant in New Hampshire and around the world. BTW there are an estimated 1 Million spiders per acre of land......Nice dreams.....
