My dog needs a new cat...

Yeah, you read that title correctly.

We lost our cat, Ginger, on Christmas day. She had several health issues and it was more than she could handle any longer. She wasn't suffering or in pain, but quietly slipped away in the late morning. It was her time to go.

Ginger had been friends (somewhat... as much as a Calico can be friendly) with our dog, Tanker. Tanker has always had a cat for a friend.

We're looking for a dog-friendly cat. I'd prefer short-haired and house-trained (litterbox trained). I've very fond of tabby cats - they're usually the friendliest. We do not let our cats outside, as we live on a main road. We're good pet-owners and can provide lots of vet references and info about ourselves and our life-style to anyone wishing to consider us as new parents for a cat they're wishing to re-home. I'd prefer not to have a kitten and don't mind an older cat (considering it's not too old - I don't want the kids to go through losing another pet too soon, if you know what I mean.)

Please PM me if you know of anyone re-homing a dog-friendly cat - I'd be glad to exchange more information.

Many thanks!

Try the Humane Society

Hi
Unfortunately, it's about to be kitten time and at this time of year the Humane Society will be overwhelmed. The facility on Meredith Center Road in Laconia is great... and they have a sense of the personality of the cats in their care.

Sorry to hear about your Ginger. We lost our Ginger about a year ago to hyperthyroidism (she was 17 years old).

I'm about to introduce a 7 week old yellow lab puppy to my two cats tomorrow :rolleye2: We will see how that goes. I am very excited for our new baby.

Don't limit yourself to a certain color or type of cat. I tried that once to replace an awesome grey tiger cat I had. Trying to avoid a black cat becuase I already had two black cats. Well along came Butch, all black with white on his chest and under his armpits. He was the most amazing cat I ever had, so loveable. I'm so glad that the person with me talked me out of the "no black cat rule". And here I am years later with yet another black cat Bella, and a tattoo of Felix the cat on my back.

I'm not limiting myself for a cat as much as I know my preferences... the most important thing is personality - after that, the rest is just details...
