Looking for Holiday events for end of November

I have been going up to NH for summer vacation or skiing for the last 50+ years (stayed at Lees Pond in September), but now I want to try something else out at the end of the month. I rented a house on the Lake in West Alton because I just want to be in my favorite place for a little before Christmas holiday fun! I am trying to find Calendars with events (tree lightings or Christmas music, etc.) but all I am finding is live music at bars and karaoke which we have plenty of in Pa. I was hoping to experience a kind of "Hallmark Channel" Christmas experience...lol. Can anyone guide me to a list of events (the calendar on this website has nothing on it) or let me know if something is going on locally that would be fun and put us in the Christmas spirit? I'll add that this is a "young seniors" girl's trip, so the bar events aren't of interest. We will be arriving midweek on the 26th, so that also doesn't help because this time of year most events are on the weekend. If you know of any holiday events happening at a park or a church midweek, please let me know! It would be much appreciated! :)

The light show at the Loudon racetrack makes for a fun evening; bring hot chocolate and keep the windows open.

Festival of Trees in Wolfeboro

Wolfeboro Festival of Trees starts 11/30 with their "gala" and then there is Wed/Sat/Sun viewing of the trees each week through December.

Thanks for posting this! We have never been but going to try and go this year! Sounds like great fun to help a worthy cause!

I just heard about this on NHPR and would totally hit it up if I lived in the area or was visiting at the right time:

I saw this and got excited, but it ends the day before we get there! :(

non-events

There are a few things to do without being "Events". Rent a snowmobile, take a ride on a dog sled, rent/borrow X-country skis or snowshoes, assuming some snow cover.

As members of a local Rotary club, when we travel, we visit other Rotary Clubs and make instant friends. This has worked for us in several European countries as well as USA. Surely, you could visit a Rotary, Lions, etc. or your local church denomination and have some instant local contacts?

With more details about your visit, I bet there's somebody on this Forum who would do some local, non-commercial things with you. Go to a local HS basketball game, etc. The locals don't just stay at home every night.

BTW, this year, there are presidential candidates all over the place. Unique opportunities that don't occur in any other state. You may say, "I'm not interested in politics", but in NH, that's the local entertainment, and we take it seriously. Other states should be so lucky. "I can't vote for someone I haven't shaken hands at least twice."

Laconia's Festival of Lights should be active around that time.

Hi!

Was just getting a bite at George's after checking on camp and saw a horse drawn wagon ride from Mills Falls come by!

That might be a fine option on a nice night—I had no idea they offered those.

Wagon or Carriage? Could it have been part of a wedding?--as opposed to somebody waiting to give tourist rides like they do in southern cities (e.g. Charleston and St. Augustine)

They came by a few times and there was no fancy dress. It was a wagon like in a hay ride.

While I can't provide a specific calendar, I suggest checking out local community centers or churches for midweek holiday events. They often host tree lightings, carol singing, and other festive activities. You might also want to ask locals or check out bulletin boards in the area for any last-minute holiday happenings.
