Maine: Needhams
Does anyone remember the dark chocolate, coconut & potato candy called Needhams? Mostly made in Maine.
I used to be able to get a box full of them at Hannaford's for a few bucks back in the day...these days, they are being sold as a gourmet item. Big bucks. One of the more underrated treats out there that a lot of people don't know about. I'm going to go against my cheap-skate inclinations and pay up for a few of them. |
I remember them! Haven't seen them for ages!

These days, it's about $20 to order that amount from some gourmet shop! Besides...you can't order them in the warm weather since they would most likely melt. Simple pleasures that are not so simple any longer... |
A real craving
You know that Irish Mist is having a really bad craving when this original post was written at 12:55am! :D

Looking around the internet I see several companies are leaving out the potato in the recipe for Needhams...which is the whole point of the candy.
Buyer beware. |
