Night Navigation Lights question

Is a commercial tow boat, in a towing operation after dark, on New Hampshire inland waterways, required to display any distinguishing nav lights, stating it's in a towing operation?

I would think it needs to lit up as a towboat and tow would on salt. Nav light rules for recreational boats are the same.

Yes, this is what I recall. Thank you!

I came across a tow boat in operation Saturday night (10:30 PM) with only standard NAV lights on until we were on top of each other, 200-300 Feet. Then he put on his orange flashing lights. Might have been nice to have known he was a tow boat in operation long before that.

Always expect the unexpected, especially at night!
