Marine Patrol Boat Chase by Weirs?
Hi all,
Was taking a boat ride with the family tonight and approaching the no-wake zone between Governors and Eagle we noticed one of the larger Marine Patrol boats (lights flashing no siren) racing to get into Meredith Bay. A few minutes later as we were probably halfway through the no-wake zone between Governors and Eagle, we saw about a third of the way between Eagle and Weirs Beach two of the smaller marine patrol boats (also lights flashing but no siren) slowly following what I’d say was a 27-30’ bowrider going a bit more than headway speed. The larger Marine Patrol boat pulled up along side and all 3 seemed to be surrounding the boat in question, then the boat powered up, turned towards Weirs Beach, then started racing down into Meredith Bay being chased by Marine Patrol that were seeming trying to follow/surround him. Anyone else see this or know what was going on? Sent from my iPhone using Winnipesaukee Forum mobile app |

Oh and there is a cut girl in black leather that joins you on the bike. |
Like, where are you going to hide?
I have no knowledge of the incident but I am guessing (Speculating) that alcohol was involved. Sometimes that leads to bad decisions with worse outcomes! https://www.wmur.com/article/boat-ch...-2021/37041807 |

At MP HQ?
Confusing at best.
I'm in Weirs Bay, surrounded by three MP boats and suddenly I "turn myself in" at Glendale HQ? |

Like Ted Kennedy turning himself in the next morning. Again, just speculating. Nothing to see here folks. Move along.................... |

I am totally shocked they couldn't intercept him on the water, or at the very least catch him as he was exiting the boat.
So I guess the takeaway is that you can run and get away! So odd,,, |
Once they confirmed the registration and possible owner why risk the chase

MP VHF channel...
On what VHF channel would MP have been using to communicate with each other?
I'd like to have monitored it. |
They might be able to get the boats registration, but the MP do not know if it is stolen or used in a crime.
From the video, it did not look too busy on the water, so I agree that they should have been able to follow this individual and have the local police waiting for him where ever he decided to land. |

After a bunch of high profile deaths, it's standard practice for many police departments to avoid high speed chases unless they believe the suspect is a danger if he gets away. Illustrated here with all boats obeying the no wake zone, haha. Obviously, in this case, he was not going to get away.
|
The part I found funniest in one of the accounts is that they both (perpetrator and MP) slowed down to no wake speed when going through a no-wake zone.

Here is more information about the incident from a Laconia Sun article: https://www.laconiadailysun.com/news...3290a7aea.html |
He lost the Bird case, and Ward had to be ''saved'' by Governor Lynch.
|
Hard to stop a boat underway that doesn't want to be stopped. Ramming could be dangerous to all involved. The boat has to stop on its own at some point. End of chase.

Indictments issued in boat chase case
