Dr Bruce Heald

The well known writer of many books on Lake Winnipesaukee and surrounding areas have past away. Many have seen him on the Winnipesaukee Flagship fleet. A great contributor and friend of the Lakes Region will be fondly remembered.

May he rest in peace.

Dr Bruce Heald

That is very sad, he contributed greatly to the enjoyment of the ride around the Lake on the Mount.

My father-in-law, a retired commercial airline captain, met him on a Mount ride and the two of them talked navigation and boat handling for most of the trip - it made the day for my father-in-law.

Bruce, you will be missed.

I purchased Dr. Heald's book "Lake Winnipesaukee" for my wife, (really for both of us) last Christmas. Got a autographed copy from Abe's books. We both enjoy his writing and will now treasure this book.

I had the pleasure of having Dr. Heald as my English instructor @ Holy Trinity for grades 6-8. He was the first teacher I had that made learning a truly collaberative effort between instructor and student.

Had the pleasure of having him as my professor for a class in my time at Plymouth State. I ran into him several times in Meredith and usually said hi.

He was a very passionate teacher with a ton of character, energy and excitement. Made a class I wasn't too interested in (War in US History) actually interesting.

I found this thread after googling Dr. Heald to see if I could connect with him and ask a question about a possible inaccuracy in his "Lake Winnipesaukee" book. He passed away the year after we bought our camp and the summer I bought his book (signed).
