What are the Yellow markers on ice in Alton Bay for?

From Rte 11 we can see many yellow markers lined up on the Bay. Seems to go for a few hundred yards. Almost looks like it's marking a landing strip but have never seen it before. Anyone know what it is?

You are dead on. They are ice runways I believe.

The Alton Bay ice runway is a FAA sanctioned winter airport. Not enough ice yet to open this year.

Right, I'm aware it's got a runway, depending on ice depth. I've just never noticed the yellow markers. I'd assume they'd only put them out when the runway is open. But maybe they are steaking out their territory to keep the bob houses away. :)
