Suissevale Party

So, wow - there was one heck of a party Saturday night in Suissevale!
...Anybody else hear the bumping music and loud yelling? (i did across on the neck) Just wondering...

Lakegeezer 07-09-2012 06:27 PM

We're more than a mile and a quarter away from the suissevale beach and could hear the music well enough to dance to it - that is if the music selections had been any good. :( They quit before midnight, so didn't violate the town's noise ordinance but their good karma levels definitively took a hit from my pov.

Annual 4th of July party...

Shreddy 07-10-2012 07:24 AM

Just wait until July 28th when Suissevale takes over the WinniBell...you'll hear us loud and clear then too :D

Seaplane Pilot 07-10-2012 07:39 AM

Oh the horror!

Someone's actually having fun!

surfnsnow 07-10-2012 07:42 AM

good times suissevale

NHKathy 07-10-2012 08:52 AM

...I'm sure it was a great time - but I don't think the music had to be quite as loud as it was.
Sure, music carries across the water - this I realize. Numerous times throughout the summer, we can hear music from Suissvale and other places and homes along the shore; but usually its not a bother or problem at all, just normal summer night fun noise - quite enjoyable actually. This however was quite a bit louder than usual... Even up in my cabin, which is some 400 feet away from the shore; I could hear exactly what song was being played even. I could sing along to Justin Beiber's "Baby Baby Baby..." :rolleye2:
And - this all went on for 4 hours straight.
I'm a girl in my mid-30's - I enjoy music a lot and i enjoy a fun night at the lake as much as anybody - but this was a bit excessive - especially when at 11:00, people started to scream & yell into the microphone (attempting to sing??)

spider22 07-10-2012 09:22 AM

There is a difference between having fun and making it so other people are not able to sleep at a reasonable time. It sounds like the music as a little louder than it had to be if it is disturbing that many people that far away from it. I realize that noise carries across the water very well but the people making the noise have to be aware of that as well.

I am able to live quite a bit and go to a few parties every year and I do it without disturbing any neighbors.

I would agree with you completely if it was the next door neighbors complaining about the loud music because I have had neighbors making a lot of noise until 2 or 3 in the morning and never said a word. One poster said they are over a mile away and could still hear the music. That is beyond living a little and just playing music at too high a level. A mile is a long way.

LIforrelaxin 07-10-2012 12:33 PM

Just a couple of things to think about... First is how well music travels across the lake.... Second.. it sounds like it was an annual Suissevale party. if you where that disturb by it, talk to the Suissevale board of trustees.... Complaining about it on here will get you no where, come next year...

Complaints like this really bother me... People need to be able to have some fun and not worry about getting carried away... I could really ruin the 4th of July for all my neighbors by telling them how much the loud noises effect my wife... With every boom and bang she jumps... But we realize fireworks are part of the fun for everyone else... For one night she can live with a little discomfort.....

BroadHopper 07-10-2012 12:52 PM

I wish I could say the same to the new McMansion owners on our road. It has been a tradition to have a block party on the major hoilidays. We get to know our neighbors and celebrate together. Sure, we are noisy, isn't that what the hoildays are about?

Then a few high rollers, destroy beautiful lake cottages and build Mcmansions. Not only did they destroy classic lake cottages they destroyed the neighborhood! A few calls to the local LEO and its curtains to the traditional holiday parties. :(

Complaining on here seems like the thing to do this year, we are living with a bunch of people that have nothing better to do with there time on here. Fun what the hell is that:eek: I would rather bitch about the boat that was to close to me, or the one who threw his butt in the water, to the kid standing up fishing in a boat. Anybody on here ever hear of MYOB? Mine your on business!! Or if you have nothing nice to say, don't say anything at all!! Reading on this forum lately is like watching the news, its all negative. Ok, rant done carry on..........

It's a beach party for the members of Suissevale. A DJ is hired and has been for years. There is law enforcement on duty to make sure all goes well. Suissevale has over 350 homes, there are going to be people there every year...especially on 4th of July weekend with nice weather.

FWIW, get your complaints ready for when Jam Sandwich plays at Suissevale beach in a few weeks as well as when they have their annual Labor Day beach party.

jrc 07-10-2012 01:50 PM

Boy, I'm sure glad there wasn't a loud party with a band, and fireworks, playing till close to midnight in Glendale on Saturday. People would really be complaining.

wifi 07-10-2012 08:07 PM

Its summer time, sum, sum summer time, ieeee ummm

Suissevale beach has about three major beach parties during the summer and has had for a long time. Unless you can afford a mile of beach front these days, you will have to put up with your neighbor.

I grew up in Gilford, a couple of houses down (LSP side) of the old Gilford Shore Cottages, which were just down from the old Chanticleer. In those days (the 50's) you could walk out any day of the year and hear very little. You could also look up and seemingly observe every star in the sky. You could row out into 20 feet of water and see the bottom stones and sand, clearly. Boy, how things have changed. I long for those days.... (not just because I was a kid then... LOL), its the piece, quite and serenity the lake used to represent.

So, how does this relate to the beach party? There is no house closer to their loudspeakers than mine. These guys do three parties per year, what the heck. At about 10PM, I got tired, closed my windows, turned on the AC and slept like a baby.

I get up in the morning, open my door to a 12 foot high, 150 foot long spite fence put up by a new neighbor of about 3 months. Can't do anything about it, its legal, so I just enjoy what is left of the pleasantries on the lake, it will get worse. There will be a tipping point, where my memories of the greatness of the lake will be overshadowed by the 'new' lake and I will move deep into the woods. Sort of sad.

In summary, enjoy what you have, complaining will change little and cause more conflict, heck, why not have your own birthday party next week, not to annoy your neighbors, but to enjoy your own piece of the lake, while you remember the good times of today before tomorrow comes.

uh - no it didn't.... :rolleye1:
I watched the 11PM news, then I went to bed, and it was still going then, and just as loud - at 11:30.

At 11:30, the gestapo showed up and forced everyone off the beach. I have a witness !!

Nicely said wifi. It's frustrating to see the quality of the Lakes Region experience fading into a thing of the past.

Sorry that Suissevale is ruining everybodies "slice of heaven." Maybe it's time to move up to northern Moosehead, lots of land up that-a-way. Rock on Suissevale... :D:D

Suissevale Party

I was shocked to see this thread! I live in Suissevale, and not all that far from the beach, and yes, I was here Saturday, but didn't go..AND I never really heard the music. HONESTLY!
Here's a thought though. Imagine 350 different homes (like Suisevale) and a special Holiday (like the 4th of July) and no community beach party. However, everyone had their own party, with music and fireworks on the same night! In Suissevale, we pride ourselves on "Community Involvement." We all "socialize together," (all year long). We look after each other, and help each other. We have special events on the 4th for ALL the children, and adults alike, and we all do it together. We enjoy our friends, our famlies, and our valuable time here at the lake, and yes..we have FUN. That is why so many people look for homes in Suissevale.
It's ONE day, ONE night, and the rules keep any "party" from getting out of control. Live a little, sit back and enjoy life. It's too short and too complicated to get "worked up" over everyone else having a good time.
I'll admit I am more upset over people lighting off fireworks at 1:00 AM! It reminds me of my 1968 and 1969 4th of July in Vietnam! Vietnam..HUmm..Maybe that's why I truly enjoy the celibrations of the 4th of July..It means our FREEDOM!

Yeah and don't try to sneak in either, we'll be watching.

NonVoting Taxpayer 07-11-2012 07:04 AM

Wow, you'd think they had loud parties every weekend. To tell you the truth, it wouldn't be summer if I didn't hear the Suissevale music a couple times a year while sitting on the porch watching the Red Sox game. Been listening to it for 20+ years and it never bothered me and I'm less than a mile away. A little understanding and patience goes a long way in life.

jmen24 07-11-2012 07:21 AM

WiFi hit it dead on!

If you can't let the small things in life roll off your back than you will never survive the bigger tests.

Life is like paddling a canoe down river. If you are constantly focusing on the rocks you have past, you will continually hit the rocks coming. Look forward and DON'T GRAB THE GUNWALES.

Hope everyone enjoyed the holiday.:)

Good one. You made me laugh.

ITD 07-11-2012 08:16 AM

Hmmmm, it's interesting that the Eagle lives there and didn't hear the music, perhaps the speakers were pointed across the lake. Maybe the next party all speakers could be pointed toward the shore, might make everyone a little happier.

Kathy, maybe you could rent "Stugots" for the next morning, anchor off the beach and blast your own music toward the houses, must have been quite a few hangovers.

hazelnut 07-11-2012 08:57 AM

Really People???

When I had my house on Cow Island at least once a summer that I can recall there would be REALLY loud music and SCREAMING children heard for a few hours at a dance party at night. Wanna know what it was?

The Northwoods Summer Camp!

Wanna know what I did?

Sat on the dock and smiled!:) Tapped my foot and sang along to the music and closed my eyes and dreamt about being a young kid at summer camp. Should I have complained that these kids were having fun? If it happened every night maybe I would have. But once or twice a summer? Really? God forbid we let people have a good time once in a while. Sheesh. :rolleye2:

NHKathy 07-11-2012 10:07 AM

OK, I think some people might be misunderstanding of one thing: As I said in post #8 -I have certainly heard music carrying across the Lake at other times throughout the season - and all other times it has been ENJOYABLE! I love music! I love a party by the Lake! I can't wait for the annual Winni Belle cruise - I love when it goes by with the music! In fact, I am usually up at the Lake every 4th of July weekend, and I have heard the Suissvale Party other years, as well as other parties/fun happings at other houses/areas - it is always enjoyable. I usually sit and listen from the beach even.
All I'm saying here is that it was really loud this time, louder than every other time and a little louder than necessary... And, as my 1st post stated - I was just wondering if anybody else had heard it? The reason I asked was because I thought it was rather odd, because no other time had it been so loud.

What does 350 homes have anything to do with having music loud enough so someone a mile away can hear it?

Greene's Basin Girl 07-11-2012 11:21 AM

Why doesn't everyone discussing the party agree to disagree and leave it at that? Go out on the lake and enjoy this beautiful day. That is what I am doing. Summer goes by so quickly!

psherry 06-29-2013 07:19 AM

Let's do it again!

Last year my group (4 adults, 5 kids) arrived the Saturday after the 4th for a week's vacation. We stayed in a home on the lake very close to the beach where the party took place. To be honest, we thought it was quite a treat to have that atmosphere happening on first night of vacation. All of us enjoyed the music and partying going on. It was a great way to kick of our week.

We are staying at the same home this year and arrive (once again) the Saturday after the 4th. We are all hoping that Suissvale does there thing again and welcomes us back to the lake with a big beach bash!

Can't Wait!

Thanks for the confirmation Shreddy!

We are looking forward to the 'Welcoming Party' and a great week on the Lake. Looking at the weather forecast it looks like summer is arriving just in time for us and this wet weather is heading out of here.

We will be dancing in the backyard, listening to the party come Saturday evening...Can't Wait!

fireworks Friday night suissvale party animals?

Beach baby, Beach baby take me away....

We crashed that party last year and had a ball!!!

Volly ball, music, dancing in the sand and really good, fun people.

After the fireworks, which were awsome, I tried to slip a $20 to the people who were running the event. There were three guys who bank rolled the fireworks and the only thing that they wanted from me is to share a Bud lite. I hate cheap beer but, heck I was a guest... This is their thing and they spend around 3K to put it on and just want to watch the folks have a good time.

We need more of that. Wicked good time!

The best celebration on the lake. Can't wait for this years even. this is what summer is all aboout

Sue Doe-Nym 07-05-2013 09:48 AM

When did Suissevale resume the fireworks?

They stopped doing them many years ago due to safety concerns, costs and some other reasons. The beach parties are cool but I don't think that fireworks are part of the festivities.

Suissevale 4th of July Party 2015 (?)

My group is heading up to the Lake for our 5th year. Our place is right on the water and in sight of Suissevale. In the past we have come up the Saturday after the 4th and enjoyed the sights and sounds of Suissevale's beach party. This year our week starts on the 4th. We are really hoping that Suissevale will be providing the music and fireworks for us again this year. Can anyone confirm that Suissevale is planning their beach party again this year? If they are not I will venture out on the water and catch one of the other firework displays from the boat.

Thanks!

dpg 06-16-2015 12:40 PM

Suissevale does not put on a fireworks show anymore, haven't for awhile. They have their own assoc party still. Yes - there's music.

DPG is correct, there are no official Suissevale fireworks, but there are plenty of "unofficial" firework displays all around the area that can be seen from shore or boat.
