General store tour
Here for the week for a kidless vacation. Thinking of doing a general store tour tomorrow. Besides Guilford, Alton, Wolfsborough and Moultonborough is there any other general stores or unique stores that we should try to hit?

Way up northern New Hampshire in Errol .... www.llcote.com .... is a huge, happy store with a lot of different north country items including a standing, deceased, large white MOOSE on display.
"What a place! They even have food so you could actually just live here." |
day trip
A bit of a drive, nice drive though. Vermont Country Store in Weston Vt. Check out St. Gaudens National Park on way over, or way home. Special place

Ashland has one

There's also:
The Other Store (Tamworth) New Hampshire Country Store (Chocorua) Zeb's General Store (North Conway) |
Calef's in Barrington.

Tuftonboro General Store

Tanger Outlet Country Store
The Alton Country Store has a beautiful "" annex" at the Tanger Outlets in Tilton. They have so many of the same items as in Alton + lots of browsing room. They opened in 2020 as a holiday pop up, but were so successful it is open year round.

Took my daughter on an old country store tour today, and here's what we hit:
Moultonborough Country Store: awesome mix of products, including candy, home goods, toys, and clothing. Black's in Wolfeboro: not labeled a country store, but essentially the same mix of products. Ellacoya Country Store & Deli: despite its name, not really a country store at all. A few small gifts, stickers, etc. but otherwise just food. Gilford Country Store: equivalent to Black's in terms of clothing but not as many toys and few home goods. Long View Country Store: probably our favorite, this has a nice collection of food, home goods (carpets, decorations, furniture, etc.), clothing, and a neat little barn with antique/furniture extras. We did not hit Pier 19 as the photos looked like it was just a convenience store and Alton Country Store is closed now, having moved its operation to the Tanger Outlets. I would also add the Mills Falls stores as a "country mall" as they have a candy store, home goods, and apparel stores that, all added up, offer what the best country stores do...with a different sort of charm. Finally, Pop's was the perfect place to stop for lunch on our rainy day tour! Sent from my SM-S911U using Tapatalk |

Center Tuftonboro general store
Very small but still historically interesting esp in the winter with the wood stove going and some locals hanging out at the coffee table. Also, houses the local P.O. and since the new owners took over they've put in a bbq. I remember back in the '80s there were gas pumps out front.
