Snowmobile rentals

Do the dealers also rent? What are the options for the lakes region in terms of renting. I like to try a few different sleds before considering a purchase.

rentals

It has been asked several times in the past and it seems that there are no
rentals available in the lakes region. There is a rental company in the Lincoln area and in Bartlett.

In Pittsburg, there are both Skidoo and Polaris rentals available. I think that you 'll find newer sleds in that location. Lopstick and a few other places rent Skidoo. Bear rock adventures has Polaris.

You really want to ride a relatively new sled. New sleds are so much more comfortable.

Huh,

That makes it a bit of a challenge. Maybe I can go test drive a few a the dealers

There is a rental outfit in Gorham as well. As for dealers, try Livingston's in Hillsborough, when there's enough snow on the drag strip you can test ride.

While held at the end of the season the SnoDeo put on by the Swift Diamond Riders club at Coleman State Park (Diamond Pond area) every year provides the opportunity to ride all the latest machines as each of the manufacturers show up with a bunch of demo sleds to try out and you can take them on a short "guided" spin.

www.nhsledventures.com in Lincoln has a very detailed rental price list, and it seems like it is up to date, and still in business? Who knows ...... the snowmobile rental biz must have its ups and downs?

It does and there are significant costs. The machines themselves are expensive to purchase and maintain coupled with the fact they depreciate big time. No clue on insurance but it doesn't take much to break one especially if there is a rookie or meathead operating them. Most rental places I think this one included do guided tours and don't just toss you the keys to a machine and say have fun.

I don't see how these guys can survive to be honest the season is typically very short and good ridable conditions anywhere south of the notch don't last very long, at best maybe 8 weeks.
