Eating by boat

Bizer's web page has a list of places to eat by boat. Bizer just received an email that said that our list (at least in Meredith) was woefully out of date. Bev told me that "Mames, Huck's, Meredith Bay Bakery, For Every Season, Brother's pizza, Flurries" have all closed or gone or under new names and management.

My first inquiry is what (if any) replaced these places to eat? As Bizer doesn't go around the lake as often as we used to, any corrections to Bizer's Where-To-Eat-By-Boat web page would be appreciated.

It's already on their website list.

I still can't stop calling it Dairy Maid though.

....who's got real donuts?

For $2.50 all the way in the back of the Heath's Super Market, on their little metal 'day old' baked goods rack, you can usually find a six-pak, plastic container with six heavy duty, old fashioned, sugar coated, high calorie donuts ..... these are the real deal ....dark brown high qual-low price serious donuts....every one with 100's of fast burning, high carbohydrate, power calories ...... just what the doctor ordered to power you up for paddling your trusty kayak or sup stand up paddle board from the very user friendly Center Harbor town dock, and rest rooms ...... all the way back to where you came from.....back to Center Harbor, Moultonborough, Meredith, Tuftonboro, Laconia, Gilford, Wolfeboro, and even all the way back to Alton Bay..... Heath's super-duper $2.50/six super, day old, donut energy food ...... plus a free gratis cup of Vermont french roast COFFEE.

Heath's home made donuts don't get old and stale ......they just get better ...... and chewier ...... yum! Someone at Heath's really knows how to bake those there donuts!

jbolty 04-13-2018 01:05 PM

All kidding aside, Heath's supermarket in Centre Harbor should probably be on the list. They make good sandwiches and have lots of other stuff to go.

He really knows how to ruin a good thread. :(

That sounds like a good deal & thanks for telling us. I prefer fried donuts that are nice and greasy. Nothing like a cup of coffee and a fried donut.

Be careful and check them out before you eat them. Did you ever think the dark brown could be mold?

I believe For Every Season is now Frog Rock Tavern and Meredith Bay Bakery is now Lakeside Tavern. I may have the original names wrong, but these two should be added.

Haha...You're not alone. Dari Maid name goes back to to the 50's I think

jeffk 04-14-2018 11:17 AM

Mug by the Bay in Center Harbor is also closed.

jeffk 04-14-2018 11:26 AM

Also, not sure how far away from the docks is considered "accessible" but if Lemon Grass and Piccolo Market are in for the Center Harbor docks, so are Pat's Seafood and Pizzeria and Dunkin' Donuts.

prob too far. Maybe about the same distance as Canoe but I believe they will pick you up.

on the other hand everything is walking distance, if you have the time

Possibly too far, but I figured I would throw it out there. It's Bizer's call as to what they want to list, i.e where the cutoff is. The current list for Meredith includes Dunkin' Donuts which is about .6 miles from the docks. The Dunkin' Donuts in Center Harbor is also about .6 miles from the docks. Pat's is closer.

Piccolo’s has delivered to the public docks for me...I was told they would beforehand and when I called from my boat as we were approaching Ctr Harbor a lady answered the phone and said they don’t deliver. I told her I had checked with someone (a man) the day before and she said hold on a second. She came back on the phone and apologized and said they would deliver. Can’t beat that!
