Mice not waiting til Fall

Seeing signs of mice indoors and have adjusted the pest service accordingly. Anyone else having this issue? I know we had some cooler days/nights in July but things have warmed up since. Wonder if the amount of rain contributes to this issue?

Not really early at all. daylight is dwindling and fall is just about here like it or not. Acorns and beachnuts have been falling for a good couple weeks now so mice, chipmunks and squirrels are very much into winter storage..............

Rain & Mice

Recall the summer of 2018 -- very wet, resulting in a lot of food for the mice with lots of subsequent reproduction, followed by those mice seeking shelter when things got cool. Bait your traps and seal you holes now!

About two months ago, I set up the bucket-of-water and spinning bottle with peanut butter trap, outside. I've caught 38 mice as of this morning.

However, the mink are keeping the population of small rodents down. I haven't seen a chipmunk in quite some time.

...that's because all of your chipmunks traveled to my property!

Pictures!!!

I'm looking for the old thread on mice that had pictures of the "bucket trap", and how to make one.
I think I'll be needing it!
Thanks in advance.

ps. I was going to start a new thread but couldn't remember how- help?

Have been finding droppings around the engine block in the wife’s car. I spray with a water/cayenne pepper mixture and keeps them out

Look up Flip and Slide mouse trap on amazon. I'm going to try that this winter.

Can you post solution recipe? My wife's car has the same issue.

I just use two table spoons in a spray bottle with water. I spray the hood insulation and around the engine block, not the motor itself

My bucket trap...

2 Attachment(s)
I fill the bucket half way and use peanut butter for bait. Caught 39 this summer. Just a simple metal rod through a drilled hole in bottom and top of plastic bottle...It spins when the mouse goes for the PB and drops into the bucket and drowns.

Bounce sheets

One morning in October I started my car and when I turned the defroster on the dash vibrated like it was going to come off. Went to the dealer and they pulled about 2 lbs of acorns out of the vents. They told me to tie off some Bounce dryer sheets in the engine compartment. Haven't had a problem since and just need to replace them in the early fall.

I had the same problem and now I place a screen over the air intake and remove the filter (which they destroy) when I park for any length of time.

Another issue with mice and cars...

They like to eat wiring in newer cars because, it is my understanding...Educated by the mechanics at Irwin Toyota, newer cars have soy-based wires.

Starting in the early 2000’s, car manufacturers began using bioplastics* (e.g. soy based wiring) in cars. They state their reasoning was in an effort to reduce dependency on petroleum and to “go-green.” In reality, bioplastics are cheaper to produce.
