I was out planting some Hosta and Eyunomous in my shady yard when I looked over the fox was watching what I was doing. Then laid down and had a nap.....:D

Great shot

Lakesrider, that is one of the best photos of a fox that I have ever seen. Great luck.

I think she thinks she is your pet!

Seems every two years he and the mother fox have a littler that stays under my shed. they are there for a few weeks to a month as they grow up and start exploring a bit. However the Father sticks around the whole year. I think he has gotten quite used to seeing me digging, planting and raking etc. Seems every time I am planting something, I get surprised by him just sitting there about two arms lengths away just watching me. I think a lot of folks in Suissevale feed the foxes, because they have little fear of people. However if you make any sudden movements they will run away.

Thank you for the interesting photo and story. However...

I'd discourge folks from feeding or befriending predators. If they become habituated to people they may aproach the wrong person for a hand-out and be perceived as possibly rabid. This may end in the injury or death of a healthy animal.

Feeding stations, like birdfeeders, can attract nuisance species like squirrells and rats (or bears...) that may learn where the food is stored. Sometimes they figure out how to help themselves. Occassionally this results in wild-life in your house so manage your charity carefully.

My 2 cents.

I never feed anything except the birds in winter time. I have all types of animals that roam around my yard. I don't bother them, or at least try not to, and they don't bother me. I must just have a friendly aura or something. Maybe the fox just trusts me. Which I figured by the way it simply fell asleep just 20 feet away from me. Once again I said "people" feed them, just not me.
