I'm getting confused about risk
I'm hearing more and more that "eventually everyone is going to get Covid." Is this a good thing or a bad thing?
More and more people I know either have Covid right now or have had it, including in my neighborhood. One person has had two breakthrough infections. Let's say I'm triple vaccinated and I'm able to not be in contact with people except at the grocery store. So eventually a large percentage of people around me have had Covid but I have not. Does that mean I'm more vulnerable or less vulnerable than the people around me who have been infected? Note these important factors: (1) The last I read (a while ago) was that if you're triple vaccinated your protection falls to something like 37% after x months (I can't remember how many). (2) I did an online risk assessment for going into a grocery store in Belknap County (e.g., Tilton Market Basket). The result was that there is a 99.9% chance that there are infected people in the store! My own risk of infection was rated as "moderate" if I wore a KN95 mask, stayed only 30 minutes, and kept 6 feet away from everyone. Those odds aren't very favorable, especially when less than 50% of people at Market Basket are wearing masks. |
You would be more vulnerable when a lot of people around you are contagious.
It doesn't make a difference if they have had Covid or vaccination... but whether they are contagious at the time of the contact, the duration of the contact, and the ambient air quality. |
Hi SailinAway,
"While omicron's mutations allowed it to better evade protective antibodies generated by vaccines and natural immunity, the vaccines and the booster shots protected the vast majority of people from getting or becoming seriously ill". |
Don’t forget that once you get COVID, it doesn’t mean you won’t get it again.
Stats show that if your older then risks of a bad experience goes way up. Also just because someone recovers does not mean they are out of the woods. Lots of lingering issues for some folks. See if you think it’s a good idea to stop worrying about it after reading these two articles. I’ll keep being careful without going too crazy and try to lead a normal life. https://www.desmoinesregister.com/st...qa/9045050002/ https://www.webmd.com/lung/news/2021...r-intelligence |
It is the stupid idiot that did not get vaccinated.
He got Covid. Then shows up at local coffee shop. If I had a container of bleach as the former president recommended. I would have dumped it all over him. Oh, waiit. That may be considered assault. I withdraw the comment. |
1. “Stupid idiot” is redundant.
2. President Trump never recommended any such thing. Sent from my iPhone using Winnipesaukee Forum mobile app |
He suggested we explore injecting disinfectant. Bleach is just the best known disinfectant.

He also backtracked

Like we have never seen anyone back off a comment and pretend they were being sarcastic.
Our leaders have never been perfect... human after all... but the more time they try to spend in the spotlight of the media, the more we are going to realize that. |
It was an offhand remark at a press conference. He was smiling when he said it. It was a joke. The humorless liberal press chose to distort it, big surprise. Then the liberals, most of whom just repeated something they had never seen nor head, dutifully followed along. The same hordes believe that President Bush actually said “strategery.” One of them actually told me, “It’s true, I saw it on Saturday Night Live!” lol

Thanks for posting they. I didn’t hear anything about “confirmation” of anything. He mentioned that he had been told testing would be being done on UV light and he floated the concept of disinfectant and wondered if they would be tested by doctors also. There was no suggesting the ingestion or injection of anything, including disinfectant.

Correct Newbie, President Bush never used the word strategery. It was a parody.

Sorry, the autocorrect turned “that” into “they” twice in my reply to Think’s response. I couldn’t figure out how to edit it after the fact.

Right, I took your lack of comment as agreement. Sent from my iPhone using Winnipesaukee Forum mobile app |

Thanks for posting the same video. Neither during the 10-second segment you reference nor at any other time does he suggest injecting disinfectant. Take another listen. Sent from my iPhone using Winnipesaukee Forum mobile app |
He clearly talks about disinfectant knocking the virus out and suggests exploring the idea of injecting it into the body.
He does it right after talking about exploring UV through the skin to knock it out. |

I am getting sucked into this with your comments which make no sense when you really think about them. You are just too clever. I assume this is being done purposefully. If not, I apologize for your not being able to understand. |
