Sewall Woods

I am going to take up cross country skiing this winter. Have any of you been to/skied Sewall Woods? Feedback would be appreciated.

Thanks

Haven't been over there in a couple of years, but the area is nicely maintained and a relatively easy area to ski. If you are going to be around much at all, and think you will be doing quite a bit of skiing in Wolfeboro, get in touch with Nordic Skier and get a season pass.

Not only can you ski at Sewall Woods, but you can also ski at Abenaki ski area off Rte 109a, where the Pop Whalen skating rink is. Those trails can be a little more difficult, but if you take it easy, you can get a few nice views. I believe there is a new trail from Sewall Woods to Abenaki called the internet trail. May want to have a car at each area.

The Flagg family operates the Nordic Skier and are the driving force behind the Wolfeboro XC ski association. I'm sure they will appreciate your support and patronage, as well as any comments.

Here's the Wolfeboro XC website: http://www.wolfeboroxc.org/

Enjoy.

Ditto to upthesaukee's comments.

I skied Sewall Woods my first time on cross-country skis. Sewall's a good place for starters. (Previous experience was with downhill skis).

Something about those cross-country skis, though: They're slick.

I managed to travel on cross-country skis just fine, but when I'd come to a complete stop...and in just a few seconds later...I'd be looking at the sky! :look: That day, I was getting beaten up -- but only while not moving! :emb:

If this is your first time on these skis, ask somebody about this.
