I was by there today and was wondering when it was going to open.

Thanks!

Juniors Crush House is OPEN!

Went to the soft opening tonite! LOVE what they did with the old Cherrystones! The place is warm and inviting and the beer was cold! The menu is very reasonably priced and there is something for everyone! Great time!

Best of luck the Cangialose family!

So when is the 'hard' opening?

Woodsy 07-01-2013 09:18 AM

They should be open from here on out!

Intrigued by the name. What is the significance of "Crush House"? Is it related to crushing grapes for wine?

Not much on there yet but here's their Facebook page (you don't have to be a FB member to view):

Juniors chrush house

tonight we tried Jrs. crush house for dinner. I understand its a fairly new place nxt. door to parafunailia. the service was excellent, the food ? a little pricey. but pretty decent. the huge drawback to this place is the horendes parking MUD lot. how they ever opened the doors before putting in a descent parking lot Is beyond me. Its way out back of the bldg. and all mud. deep mud.

wouldn't be my most favorite place. my real favorite Is patricks pub. should have gone there but wanted to try the new place.

That's a pretty ambitious statement. I don't think Junior or anybody else will crush Patrick's.

Okay --

You all have me intrigued.
We love a new restaurant to try just like the rest of you --
BUT SOMEONE give a little more detail ...

Type of restaurant (Pub / Ice Cream stand / Sandwich shop / (in)formal dining, etc.) ???

Typical menu items are ?

Has anyone thought to snap an iPhone pic of the menu and post as there is no website?

We'll be heading up in 10 days and we already have --along with our standard list of must eat at restaurants, yes Lauren we're coming up -- added Akwa Marine as a must try... now perhaps Junior's Crush House ?

p.s. -- Patrick's will do just fine living off the Mountain View crowd as they always have in the past
.

I agree that the food at Patricks is just plain ok, but I think it would take a lot more than Juniors to "crush" Patricks.

Went to Juniors Sat nite, full house inside and out.
Good service
Our crowd had Steak capresse salad w/shrimp Haddock broiled and Fried seafood.
food was great! Will be going back soon.
MVYC crowd has found another hangout! Go Jr.!:)

We ate dinner there for the first timer. Thought it was pricey for the portions. Drinks could have been a little stronger. Need to improve on their mango sauce. Fish needed a little more seasoning. Little tweaks will help them be successful. Just trying to help. We will be back again.

Patrick's has the best butternut squash in the world. Better than Ruth Chris in my opinion.

I realize squash is only a side, but it is worth the trip.

Glad to hear Junior's Crush House is doing well. I wish them the best.

We ate at juniors Tuesday night and it was pretty good overall. The dinner menu was a bit more formal than the menu we looked at at our motel(silver sands) but they were very obliging about cooking the sandwich items we had gone there for. I had the "triple threat" which was pulled pork , smoked ham and crisp bacon on a ciabatta roll. Excellent. My wife had a burger which she liked very much. The food was hot and fresh and it all came to us in a timely manner.
The wait staff was friendly and helpful. I had one of their signature orange crush drinks and if I'm brutally honest , it was pretty lackluster. I found it watery and lacking in much fruit juice taste (or much vodka taste for that matter) and it wouldn't kill them to garnish the glass with an orange slice , either.
That quibble aside , it was nice to see the place open again after 12 years (!)
And I hope they do well. It's a great location and we love that deck.

Do you see something I don't ? I see one post from a new user that is more critical than positive. The other 3 reviews are from members that have been members for 8+ years (regardless of # of posts), so I don't get it.......

On a different note - someone should post a menu as they don't list one on their facebook page. How a new business can decide they don't need to have a website with their info is completely beyond me.

NH_boater 07-18-2013 09:50 AM

I think my family is pretty easy to please and have never had a good meal at Patricks. Nothing impressive and nothing our daughter liked. Usually crowded, probably more proximity than quality. Crush could do well.

BIGSTAN: Yes, I do see something you do not see. My comment was the number of posts not the years they've been members of the forum.

Fodalo = 15 posts
FranklyH500 = 2 posts
WaterBoyZGal = 5 posts

Not many posts for the number of years they've been around. That's all just noticed that.

Who cares how many posts...

For me, it is the quality of the post, and not the quantity. Nice comments made by long time members of this Forum, who for whatever reasons have chosen not to post hundreds of times on the Forum. Not for me to judge why, just whether I understand their position on their post.

Thanks for posting.

My 2 Cents

I've been going to Patrick's off and on for 6 years. It's a pub so not everything is perfect. I do love their prime ribs, their soups and stews are great. Service for me has always been pretty good.

I had lunch at Crush on Thursday: Had to try a few things so I made a pig of myself: Chili Dog, French Fries, Hamburger, Onion Rings, and a Ruby Red Crush. My review: not bad. The Ruby Red was refreshing, the chili dog was very good. The burger was a bit overwhelmed by the massive (but tasty) bun. Onion Rings and Fries good but basic.

It was a late lunch, after 1pm and there were not too many people around. The bartender was nice. My order was taken promptly, but it took a little longer than I would have expected to bring the food. Not ridiculously long, though.

I liked Crush. I'm sure I'll go back. Is it better than Patrick's? Too early to tell for me. It's different and that's good. I'll probably bounce back and forth between them depending on my mood. I am glad Crush is there as an option.

I certainly don't work for juniors. We stay at silver sands one week every summer. We live in newton , ma.
I thought the food was good , but I was a little disappointed in my drink , that's all.

Attempted to go.

We were out with the kids and not by boat so we figured we would try it. We got there at 5:30 and wanted something light and the sandwich menu looked good. When we were about to be seated we asked how the shrimp poboy was, we were told that the samdwiches are not offered after 5:00 unless seated in the bar area. We said ok, we would like to sit in there, the answer was that the high tops in the bar but that the were only two so if we had four, the sandwiches were not an option.

Not wanting a full meal, we left. Maybe we will go again but we tried weathervane at weirs and we got the seafood fix we wanted and a $5 margarita, ill go back there.

This is something I don't understand.I can see if they don't want to serve those sandwiches in the dining room but if there is no room in the bar I can't understand why you wouldn't make an exception and instead let customers go elsewhere instead.

Woodsy

The drinks are fantastic! They have several fresh squeezed fruit cocktails, and when I say fresh, I mean they aren't pouring the fruit from a container, Danielle (our bartender) took the time to squeeze the juice from the orange into my Tropical Crush Drink that I ordered. My husband ordered a Bloody Mary after he saw that they had jalapeno flavored vodka! Don't know any place in the Lakes Region that you can get THAT! He usually won't order it unless the restaurant stocks Peppered Vodka (usually only the fine and upscale restaurants stock that), but that was a great drink! We watched Danielle take the time to make each drink order that came in, and each was consistent and of good quality. We stopped by for lunch and had a great Cuban sandwich and my husband ordered a sausage sub. Both were excellent and the prices are WAY more reasonable than Woodland's Tavern in Alton.

Will definitely be back (our friends recommended this and we will continue to bring them as well) throughout the winter, since we are locals. So glad something finally opened in that location, renovations looks great and very clean and inviting. Go check it out, highly recommend!

Love Juniors

Let me start by tell any of you who might care that I am a legit customer of Juniors and I am not an employee and I don't know anyone that works there or the owners. I specifically joined the forum today just so I could post a comment about Juniors. So you'll see I've got no posts or comments in my column, but I am indeed a real person and not asked to post here.

We went to Juniors around the time they opened, July 2nd or so, and had a fantastic dining experience. We were seated promptly and the waitress (sorry can't remember her name) came & took our drink order. We found the food to be excellent, on a scale of 1:10 I'd give it a 9, maybe 9.5. Service about an 8. The only reason I'd give it an 8 is because part of my order didn't come until the end of my meal. I ordered a salad with a side of buffalo chicken and the chicken didn't come until my dining partners had finished their meals. The waitress came several times to apologize telling us that my buffalo chicken part of the order had gotten misplaced in the kitchen, which clearly wasn't her fault. Towards the end of the meal a woman came around asking if everything was ok and did we enjoy our meal and we told her about the chicken and she immediately told us that she's make sure to remove it from our tab. I found the prices to be well well well within what we expected to pay for the quality of the food.

I do agree with some of the other comments about Patrick's. They are hit or miss in our book. Some nights pretty decent, other nights not so much. I personally think they are way over rated for the price & atmosphere. It's always way too loud, the music they think they need to offer is very irritating when trying to carry on any kind of conversation. And I also think, personally, that their prices are way over priced, especially for what you get, i.e., the atmosphere (or lack thereof), and the service is sooooooooo slow it's pathetic. We've stopped there several times in the past thinking we'd grab a quick burger or club sandwich at the bar only to be in there over an hour, so we don't go there anymore if we're pressed for time.

This isn't meant to be a bash Patrick's comment really, just trying to compare Juniors to Patricks and hoping upon hope that Juniors does great and actually DOES give Patrick's a run for their money....I've made that comment many times while driving by the empty Cherrystone, "wish someone would open this again and give Patrick's some competition and a run for their money".

I think it's funny how the comments here are so diverse & all over the place, comparing Junior's to Patrick's and vice versa. In the end it's all about the experience each one of us has/had on a particular night. Our meal was great, (minus the missing buffalo chicken until the end) and the prices were very reasonable. We most definitely will return most likely again & again!!!

Liquorish 08-05-2013 06:22 AM

Went to Juniors for a late lunch on Sunday, around 3:00.. We were seated quickly and offered drinks right away. Soup( chicken tortilla ) and sandwich special $8, all 5 of us had the special, could choose from grilled chicken, fried chicken, chicken parm, pulled pork, and meatloaf. All turned out terrific, will definitely repeat!

searay220 08-05-2013 04:31 PM

Two of us dropped in at Juniors for a late lunch Sunday afternoon around 2ish. We had a couple drinks, bbq chicken wings for an app and a couple of sandwiches. Nice place and good service and all the employees were friendly. Will return their again. I wish them luck.

I haven't been yet. It's always nice to have options. I love Lyon's den, Patrick's is okay. They're both always consistent.

You need to be accepted as a friend on Facebook which I think is odd being that it's a public place. But it's a free country as to how one wants to or not want to market themselves.

Looking forward to checking it out this coming up weekend. I will report back.

NH_boater 08-13-2013 09:27 PM

Family ate here last weekend, for first time. A little crowded but no real wait. The host told us that they had table available, great view of marina but it was next to a party of 16 and could be a bit loud. We said fine, we'll take it.

It was a bit loud, but not bad. Great service by the host for first warning us, and then offering to move us just after we sat down. We stayed where we were and enjoyed ourselves.

The meal was very good. I had seafood Alfredo. Wife had stuffed haddock. Daughter had a steak salad and chili. I admit to having some of my daughter's steak and I would gladly get her salad for my entree. All were great. The service was top notch and friendly and the prices were reasonable. We'll be back for sure.

Lakemamma 08-15-2013 07:35 PM

What a great article in the Weirs Times today about Junior's and how they started. It's nice to know that his wife was a crucial factor while running her own business in Laconia.

I haven't been to the restaurant yet but we will have to give it a try when over that way.
