or how about . . .

machine guns mounted on the Marine Patrol boats! "We don't give out no stinkin' speeding tickets!"

Or launching a submarine at the Wolfeboro town docks?!?!?

Where will they keep the black helicopters?

So many questions!:laugh::laugh::laugh:

I'm Heading to the Romney Rally tonight at the Verizon in Manchester with a bunch of friends. I think it's awesome that he will be in Manchester the night before the election!!
He is an outstanding example of what a U.S. President should be.
I pray that he wins.

I agree. Do you know where he will be watching the returns?

Amen to that!! Have fun and tell Romney I said hello....

What happens to the Lake...

There have been some subtle improvements made at the formerly-Wolfeboro Airpark, nothing which could support fixed-wing aircraft, but certainly could support a helicopter.

I had heard he will be at his home in Belmont Mass.

I am excited about seeing him tonight, hopeful and optimistic he will be elected President tomorrow, and if elected, I will be even more hopeful about the future for our United States, the future for my family, and especially for my 3 son's

Pretty sure Romney sold his Belmont home, he's having an election night rally at the Boston Convention and Exhibition center.

Heaven 11-05-2012 02:14 PM

Why wouldn't they just clear a landing spot at his house in Wolfeboro?

Sold the house - but bought a condo, still in Belmont. You're right they will be at the convention center tomorrow night.

I read an interesting article on that subject today. Even if one doesn't agree, the article makes some interesting points.

(I, too, have three sons.)

As my good friend Joe Biden would say: "With all due respect, that is a bunch of Malarkey." :D

Joe! Biden makes ANOTHER gaffe as he says 'there's never been a day in the last four years I've been proud to be his VP'

Finally I agree with him on something.

Rusty 11-05-2012 04:38 PM

Romney has made a few gaffes along the way, I like this one:

<iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/bunbN9YXBzM?rel=0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

barefootbay 11-05-2012 05:49 PM

Obama made the same identical gaffe with Joe Biden in 2008. So gaffes are equal opportunity sound bites.

Seaplane Pilot 11-05-2012 06:57 PM

Go Mitt!

I would HAPPILY give up my boating privileges for the next 4 years in order to see Mitt elected. If you-know-who gets re-elected, I won't be able to afford the boat (and probably a lot of other things) anyway.

That is a mistake I could live with!

Mitt's NH Hometown

Interesting stuff, folks.
I lived on Martha's Vineyard for about seven years, and during that time Clinton visited regularly. I can tell you that at that time (pre-911, remember), the "disturbance" to public places basically traveled in a large circle around the man (or Mrs. Clinton)...So if he was staying at his condo, you wouldn't know unless you went out that way. And when he came into town, the area immediately around him was upset but you could be a few streets over and never know.
Still, I have to echo some of the comments from those experienced w/ the Bush compound in Maine. A lot depends on where the POTUS is, and whether it can be easily protected - or, "cut off", to put it another way.
BTW, I thought some of you may be interested in the Oct. 30 post on this Lakes Region blog about Romney and his relationship w/ the Town of Wolfeboro... http://lakesregionofnewhampshire.blogspot.com/

As for where Mr. Romney will be watching the returns -- we are down here in Florida, and I did hear on one of the political shows over this past weekend that he will be at their home in Wolfeboro! The Romneys no longer own a home in Belmont. Does anyone know if there are extra news crews setting up in Wolfeboro? That would surely be an indication of where he will be.

Hope not I have to drive by there to get to the job.
Beside these politicians don't want to be in a small out of the way town like Wolfeboro. :rolleye2:
There just is not enough people around to pat them on the back win, loose or draw. :D

tis 11-06-2012 08:41 AM

It appears now he will be in Boston for the returns. At least he is "home".

He's voting in Belmont this morning, then flying off to campaign in two other states (I believe one is PA), then returning to watch the returns at the convention center in Boston. I can see the convention center from my office, there is a ring of satellite trucks surrounding it - since at least yesterday. And they've announced that they're closing down a number of streets this afternoon and there will be no parking in that area.

PaugusBayFireFighter 11-06-2012 09:36 AM

We won't have to speculate tomorrow (hopefully :rolleye2:).

Looking forward to a late night tonight and a fantastic day tomorrow!

Kamper 11-06-2012 09:39 AM

If he loves it here so much, why is his house for sale?

jack1706 11-06-2012 09:43 AM

That's because -- IT ISN"T FOR SALE !!!!

AC2717 11-06-2012 10:05 AM

Romney just drove by my office, to and from voting!!

Here we go MITT!!!!

Having been in the middle of a similar election winner settling in The South, the folks of Wolfeboro might not be able to grasp at just how much Wolfeboro will change! :(

The Airpark always could support a helicopter: a heliport was a feature for many years. With the next President needing an incredible amount of ancillary equipment, I'd expect the new owners of the Airpark property to lend their full support. ;)

Of course the Marriotts will do all they can to help him. They are friends.

PaugusBayFireFighter 11-07-2012 12:17 AM

Cya Willard! ;)

patman 11-07-2012 12:26 AM

So...what happens now that he didn't win? I suppose the security will remain at least what it was this summer.

Not unless he pays for it himself. X Presidents get covered, not X candidates.
He's now plain old Willard of Wolfeboro.

Resident 2B 11-07-2012 02:15 AM

No security, no press, no crowds. Mitt will have a simple life as a private citizen.

No impact on the lake at all.

I thought his lake house was on the market. One of our members posted a link to it last yer (or the year before?).

So technicaly my remark was a "false lie." I only thought it was the truth!

Bear Island South 11-07-2012 08:09 AM

I guess the new question is; "what happens to the lake now that Romney lost"
Is it business as usual?
I am sure gas prices will still be in the $4 dollar range come next summer. :(

Rising income tax rates and the possible exemption of the second home mortgage interest deduction could also have a chilling impact on the vacation home marketplace in the lakes region. Someone will need to pay for all of the federal spending at some point.

I think you may be thinking of the discussion of Appe's house being for sale and the rumor that Romney might move into it for easier protection is elected.

I hate to think what the next four years will bring. I am hoping for the best but cannot see anything good coming of this election on all fronts. I hope I am so wrong.
