I think I remember my dad telling me about Cougars! :-) Who am I kidding...I even remember the tv commercials... maybe still in black and white! Ha

back in the 1960s, when I was given that nickname, the definition of cougar was only an animal, not how we think of the name now. I’m glad I had a chance to prove myself because I am anything but.😇 Steve, This is a fun post. |

XINGU – are you a member of that tribe in Brazil, if you are, please post a picture. Or did you take a vacation and paddle down the XINGU river? Inquiring minds want to know. |

If someone would like to find a picture and surreptitiously put me in it with the Cougar, that would be fine with me. |

For the literature lovers, give it a go—I think you'll find that it reads swimmingly yet is sometimes hard to fathom. Sent from my SM-G990U1 using Tapatalk |

"Bear Islander" was already taken.
The avatar is a deep cut from the Dilbert nerdiverse, a nod to the webmaster's avatar. |
This was a great idea for a thread! Fun to hear how everyone go their names. I hope to see all you guys out on the lake this summer, would be great to revive a forum meet up of some kind and share a few laughs and a few cold beverages!

I spent 8 weeks every summer from 1961-1973 @Camp Bernadette on Lake Wentworth. 10 years as a camper, 3 on staff. It was the best 8 weeks of the year!

Speaking of names….does anyone know what happened to “ishoot”? He was a regular poster, and his comments were very interesting and helpful….and poof! He abandoned ship…..he is missed.

Forum names
My family was in the summer camp business, so this name seemed natural.

I miss him too.

I agree with Steve. Unfortunately the last time he signed in was Sept 2021. I miss his fishing posts, whether through the ice or while trolling with his nicely outfitted pontoon, his knowledge of all things salmon, but most of all, the beautiful sunset pictures from his spot of heaven on the westerly side of Welch's. Dan explained the origin of ishoot308 when a similar thread ran a few years ago. Yes, he had many useful posts.

...... Top Water and APS ...... m.i.a. .... (?)
Digging into the forum name cemetery for deceased names, APS and Top Water are two former forum heavies who took a powder from dis here forum and left the building to go somewhere else, or something.
Top Water was totally pissed about some unknown item, and deleted his 600 black & white, historic lakes region photos. .... ;) APS disappeared for a reason, unknown ...... possibly he simply got eroded away by a Malibu wake boat! ...... |
So to get this thread back on track...... LIforrelaxin... it where I am when I am at the lake.... on Long Island and relaxing..... now I had another name I thought about
asixpackview anyways .... |

Here's the challenge..... Somehow, maybe people can make an outreach to these folks and ask them to reconsider a return ASAP. "Life it too short but it is the longest thing you will ever do". Make the most of it and COME BACK...please !!!!! There can be some real good from this thread on top of the fun of knowing what the background was for name creation!! |

I've talked to most of these people behind the scenes, and the common tone is that the forum has much more drama than in the past and often loses its way. I have pointed this out in some posts of my own where people have made an issue out of "offensive" language, "repetitive" posts, etc. What's worse is that when these things happen, the supporters often remain silent—we saw it with Joey a few weeks ago and I've got PMs from people who have been "with me" but don't post publicly because they don't want to get involved in the drama. The result for some people, then, is to walk away when the frustration outweighs the value. Sent from my SM-G990U1 using Tapatalk |
