2007 Derby dates?
Has anyone heard or know what the dates are for the 2007 Rotary derby? Might be a little early, but I am very excited for it.

Not Listed Yet
Sorry, Meredith Rotary hasn't listed the event date yet. Based on years past, it will likely be February 10th & 11th. Last year it was postponed to the following weekend due to poor ice conditions.

Thanks RG. I checked the site a few times in the past couple weeks and was thinking maybe somebody on here might have known through any rotary connections. I guess I'll just have to be patient

Dates for Fishing Derby
Although it's not on the website yet, the dates for the Fishing Derby are Feb 10-11. I am a member of the Rotary.... Hopefully this year we'll have lots of ice. I believe some additional fun events are in the works from the Greater Meredith Program, but have no details yet.

Thanks Donna. Anything would be better than what we had last year for ice conditions. Do you know what the top prize is yet? I can't wait for the derby, I'm hoping to bring a friend up from NC who has never ice fished before.

Polyagraph Test--- WOW
BT
Looks like you guys are serious ... looking at the rules... they may require a polyagraph test.. Has there been some "cheating" in the past? Maybe some of the fish are on steroids! PS... I'm just having fun with this... not being critical... Love the stuff the Rotary does..

Brochure Mailing for Derby
The invitations/brochures are being mailed this week (11-14-06). I put a notice on the Winni Calendar for the dates of February 10 and 11 which is Derby Weekend. As soon as a copy of the brochure is available, it will be put up on the www.meredithrotary.org website. There are several new, fun things for 2007, and we hope to see everyone there. Pray for ice (not yet, but, you know, coming soon!!)

Awesome, thanks for the heads up. I will be on the look out for it. I can't wait to come up. I'm going to take a little over 2 weeks off of work.

They are serious over here, maybe a little too serious, but you know how serious fisherman can be!! There have been accusations that certain winning fish came from other lakes. The rules state only Sebago but it's tough to police. I know you're just having fun..no offense taken. BT

I heard that a number of years back that some guys or maybe it was just one, had entered a rainbow trout and for whatever reason it was cut open and inspected. Apparently they found food in the stomach of the fish that was not native to NH. I think the person or person were from Michigan or something. I think charges were taken out. It just ticks me off when people try to pull crap like this.
