Planer boards
I have a question regarding the use of planer boards for salmon. How do they work? Lead core or mono?? Lure, fly or live bait?? Asking from a die hard fly Fisha man
Thanks. They have always peaked my curiosity. |

Typically mono though I have use lead of them with just a color or so in the water. I’ve always used lures.

Salmon Fishing 2021
Hi folks;
A couple of my buddies were up to Winni yesterday 4/24/2021 and they picked up 4 nice Rainbows....all were caught slo-trolling smelt and shiners. All were caught directly in front of the Weirs channel. No Salmon ! |

I have 2 on order. Never used them, but there's tons of info on youtube how to use them. It appears you can use mono, braid, lead core , or wire. Many guys in the Great Lakes use up to 10 colors of lead core behind them. I like the idea of not fishing under the boat and many feet to the side. I'll be using lead core. You can use any bait you wish with them.

Salmon Sunday, Melvin River, Tuftonboro is cancelled
NH Fish & Game twitter says the annual Salmon Sunday held at the Pope Dam on the Melvin River in Tuftonboro on Sunday, November 14 has been cancelled for this year but will return next year with some changes. About two hundred people including a lot of children usually show up for the event where a few large female salmon have their eggs extracted and fertilized with milt from male salmon performed by fishery biologists.
The Covid-19 pandemic is not mentioned so it's unclear if this is the reason why it's been cancelled this year, 2021?
